With many of our partners acknowledged as leaders in their fields who are focussed on helping our great team fulfil their potential, we offer a great platform for an ambitious mid-level who is keen to get exposure to the exciting APAC M&A market, which has Hong Kong at its heart.Role and responsibilitiesWorking alongside our Greater China Corporate partner group, we are seeking a mid-level M&A associate in relation to the following areas of practice:
  • the full range of public and private mergers and acquisitions, including investments, joint ventures and partnerships;
  • general corporate work, including advising clients on compliance and governance matters;
The chosen candidate will also be expected to:
  • provide mentorship and support to junior associates within the department;
  • provide support to senior associates and partners; and
  • demonstrate ambition and enthusiasm in business development activities, including participating in industry related programs and developing strategic relationships and networks.
Key requirementsThe Associate will have the following experience, skills and attributes:
  • 3-5 years post qualification experience with a leading international law firm in:
  • international cross border M&A transactions, specifically in Greater China and the wider APAC region;
  • public M&A work; and
  • general corporate work.
  • experience in supervising junior associates on M&A deals;
  • an effective team player who can operate in a highly collegiate environment;
  • commercially astute with outstanding technical ability, including research and drafting skills;
  • exceptional problem solving and organisational skills;
  • an ability to manage, prioritise and meet deadlines, working efficiently and effectively under pressure;
  • drive to join a truly global team with an international outlook and commercial mind-set;
  • a Hong Kong qualified lawyer;
  • Native to fluent Chinese language skills (Cantonese and/or Mandarin);
  • Fluent English language skills are essential, as well as excellent communication and presentation skills (written and oral); and
  • strong academic credentials.
