Job Title: Principal Engineer – ElectricalLocation: Scotstoun - We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.Salary: Up to £60,100 per annum – dependent on skills and experienceWhat you’ll be doing:· Act as the team lead and main point of contact for the HCF UK Electrical Engineering team, coordinating with customers and suppliers to resolve relatively complex problems and to maintain awareness of priorities and objectives across a broad range of stakeholders.· Lead and carry out relatively complex technical analyses and investigations, including evaluation and selection of technical options, and prepare reports with suggested recommendations to support the resolution of problems and the progression of the electrical system design for the Hunter Class Frigate.· Prepare specifications, develop designs in line with specifications and all quality and technical standards, and carry out design appraisals to ensure relevant technical requirements are met.· Carry out investigations into operational problems, develop, and prepare solutions, individually and as a team lead.· Carry out team planning, risk management and quality assurance across all assigned scopes of work.· Develop the team through Learning and Development and the performance management process.Your skills and experiences:Essential:· Experience in engineering or a defence related industry· Possess in-depth knowledge of the fundamentals within the electrical engineering discipline· Strong people management skills and leadership experience in a multi-disciplined engineering environment.Desirable:· Sufficient breadth of knowledge of warship design.Engineers at all levels should possess an academic qualification in Engineering or other related STEM subjects as well as specific (either academic or professional) qualifications and become recognised as Incorporated or Chartered Engineers through an appropriate recognised professional institution.
