- Develop and improve quality assurance policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards (e.g. BRC, GMP)
- Conduct regular audits and inspections of laboratory and manufacturing processes, equipment, and documentation to identify areas for improvement.
- Gain expert knowledge of the business management system to support third party and customer audits on site.
- Regular communication with customers for New Product development, product approval and complaints
- Establish and define competent statistical analysis, monitoring quality control data to identify trends, deviations, and potential issues, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Collaborate with laboratory staff to develop and implement training programs on quality assurance protocols and procedures.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of quality assurance activities, including audit reports, corrective action plans, and training records.
- Investigate and resolve quality-related issues, customer complaints, and non-conformances in a timely manner.
- Coordinate with external agencies and auditors during regulatory inspections and audits.
- Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes related to laboratory quality assurance.
- New product development particularly QA trials, sample testing and approvals.
- Participate in the development and implementation of quality improvement initiatives to enhance laboratory efficiency and effectiveness.
- Provide guidance and support to laboratory staff on quality-related matters, including the interpretation of regulations and standards.
- Analysis of laboratory performance data to provide feedback regarding manufacturing processes to improve product performance.
- Measurement System Analysis methodologies, particularly using statistical analysis techniques are important for this role.
- A good understanding of UKAS accreditations would be beneficial.
- Monitor product and laboratory performance to ensure methods are followed accurately, tests meet acceptance criteria and proficiency work is satisfactory.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., quality, production engineering) required; advanced degree preferred.
- Certification in quality management is required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a quality engineering role, preferably in a regulated industry (e.g., food service or packaging).
- Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and quality standards applicable to laboratory operations including UKAS and ISO 17025 or similar would be beneficial but not essential at this stage.
- Experience conducting audits, inspections, and investigations, and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to analyse data, identify trends, and propose solutions.
