Organization: SHSO-Sutter Health System Office-BayPosition Overview: Responsible for leading the strategic, clinical, and programmatic direction of the associated system Sutter Laboratory Service Center across Sutter Health. This role is crucial in enhancing patient care and access, developing distinctive programs, optimizing financial and operational performance, and driving a culture of innovation and continuous improvement across all levels of service delivery. Will have direct oversight over service center physician chiefs and medical directors, guiding market-level leadership across Sutter Health's markets and ensuring excellence in specific clinical program focuses within the overarching system service center. Will lead and act in accordance with the Mission, Vision, and Values of Sutter Health.This is a role with both work from home opportunities as well as onsite requirements.   • MD or DO
CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE:
  • MD-Doctor of Medicine OR DO-Doctor of Osteopathy of California
  • Requires current Board Certification in Clinical Pathology
  • Current license to practice medicine in CA
Must meet both California and CLIA medical laboratory director requirements for high complexity testingTYPICAL EXPERIENCE:
  • At least 8 years of clinical experience, with a minimum of 5 years in leadership roles managing complex teams within a large health system.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
  • Knowledge of clinical laboratory practice; current technology and applications, accrediting agencies and regulations, understanding of legislation and practice related to medical staff governance, as relates to the clinical laboratory; budgeting, cost accounting, financial modeling, understanding of medical informatics and information systems as they affect the laboratory in its role of clinical decision support.
  • Expertise in quality improvement tools and processes; awareness of laboratory medicine risk management issues; demonstrated skills inorganization management.
  • Must have the ability to effectively lead a centralized business in a local/ area/divisional structure.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal (written, oral, presentation) skills and have the flexibility to adapt to a constantly changing environment
  • Must have well developed problem identification, analytical, and problem resolution
  • Demonstrated success in strategic planning, improving patient access, engaging in philanthropy efforts, reducing clinical variation, and implementing cost reduction strategies.
  • Strong leadership skills, capable of guiding diverse teams and achieving consensus among stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, adept at building relationships with a broad range of stakeholders, including donors, community leaders, and healthcare professionals.
