Teaching Assistant 1:1 - AutismFull Time£75-£100 per daySeptemeber 2024 StartHalton- AylesburyA Primary school in a lovely village setting is working with Supply Desk to recruit a SEN Teaching Assistant to support a child with autism and social communication needs on a 1:1 basis.The school is 2 form entry and set in lovely grounds with a play and woodland area. The SENCo is extremely supportive and keen to find a teaching assistant who is passionate about supporting children with SEN to work alongside them to provide support and tailored learning experiences for the child. The school will invest in further SEN training for you making it a great opportunity to develop your career further.

The Role:
  • Working with multi-agency professionals to support the child’s learning in development in ways which work best for them
  • To work in collaboration with the SENCo to ensure the child is well supported and makes progress
  • Give the child clear instructions as they find transitional periods particularly difficult
  • Provide written and verbal feedback on the child’s progress
  • To establish a positive working relationship with child to motivate them, promote and foster self-confidence
  • To support in planning learning activities alongside the teacher and SENco to differentiate, modify and deliver specialist activities and use different approaches according to the child’s responses and needs
  • To work with the child, in or out of the classroom, in order to achieve learning plan targets
  • Be able to diffuse challenging situations and manage behaviour effectively
  • Communicate with the child in a way they understand and respond well to
Requirements:
  • Experience working with children with SEN or in a profession with transferrable skills such as care/ support worker
  • Able to be patient and consistent in your approach
  • SEN training or qualifications would be advantageous
  • Previous experience supporting Autism is advantageous
