- Plan and deliver engaging and practical food technology lessons that cover a range of topics, including cooking techniques, nutrition, food safety, and food preparation.
- Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel encouraged to experiment, innovate, and develop their culinary skills.
- Develop and implement curriculum plans that align with the National Curriculum and the school's educational objectives.
- Provide hands-on instruction in the kitchen, guiding students through recipe preparation, cooking techniques, and food presentation.
- Incorporate technology and multimedia resources into lessons to enhance student learning and engagement.
- Assess student progress through a variety of formative and summative assessments, providing constructive feedback to support their development.
- Collaborate with colleagues to integrate food technology across the curriculum and participate in cross-curricular projects and events.
- Stay updated on current trends and developments in food and nutrition education and actively participate in professional development opportunities.
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Hospitality Management, Education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent certification.
- Previous experience teaching food technology or culinary arts at the secondary school level, with a strong understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
- Passion for food and nutrition education, with a creative approach to teaching and a willingness to experiment with new recipes and techniques.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students from diverse backgrounds.
- Creativity, adaptability, and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment.
- Experience working in a commercial kitchen or food service environment is desirable.
