If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Science Specialist Teaching Assistant at an Ofsted good secondary school in Audenshaw.Role Overview:As a Science Specialist Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the science department and assisting students in their scientific studies. Your responsibilities will include:Laboratory Assistance: Assisting science teachers in preparing practical experiments and demonstrations for lessons. You will help set up equipment, ensure safety protocols are followed, and provide support to students during practical activities.Classroom Support: Supporting teachers during science lessons by providing additional assistance to students, clarifying concepts, and reinforcing learning objectives. You will help create a positive and engaging learning environment where students feel motivated and inspired to learn.Resource Development: Collaborating with teachers to develop engaging and interactive teaching resources and materials. You will help create visual aids, worksheets, and presentations to support students' understanding of scientific concepts.One-on-One Support: Providing targeted support to students who require additional help with science topics. You will work closely with individuals and small groups to address their learning needs and reinforce key scientific principles.Assessment and Feedback: Assisting in the assessment of students' scientific knowledge and understanding through observation, marking, and providing feedback. You will help track student progress and identify areas for improvement.Behaviour Management: Implementing effective behaviour management strategies to ensure a positive and respectful learning environment in science lessons. Your supportive approach will help students stay focused and engaged in their studies.Requirements:
  • A strong background in science, with a degree or equivalent qualification in a scientific discipline.
  • Previous experience working with young people in an educational setting is desirable but not essential.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.
  • A passion for science education and a commitment to supporting students of all abilities to achieve their full potential in science.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience, with the ability to adapt your approach to meet the individual needs of students.
