Six core values are embedded within these commitments – student-centered, whole child, equity, academic excellence, community partnership, and continuous learning.Job Summary:Reporting directly to the Director of Digital Communications, the Manager of Digital Media Services plays a critical role in bringing strategic guidance to the district's existing digital programming and explores proactive future planning to improve the growth of the district’s diverse audience across all channels. The Manager of Digital Media Services is responsible for management of the Communications Department’s overall photography, videography, and audiography services, including photo, video, and audio capture, equipment setup and breakdown, video and photo editing, and the creation of rich content focusing on District news and highlighting the contributions of our staff, students, and school communities.The Manager, Digital Media Services will be held accountable for the following responsibilities:
  • Lead projects and processes that require collaboration with senior leaders to plan and create video and photo content, and manage in-person events that require A/V setup.
  • Lead the ideation, storyboarding, shot schedule, production and editing of high quality videos and photos on digital and video platforms while meeting deadlines. Traditional digital equipment (HD cameras and video cameras) and/or cellular phones may be used for content creation
  • Manage on-location and in-studio video production including camera, lighting, audio, and directing subjects.
  • Oversee post-production processes. Research sources for photos, video, and music, export audio for transcription, make transcript highlight recommendations, and upload final files to YouTube and internal filing system.
  • Lead video asset management processes, organize and ingest video footage, attach metadata, create and maintain systems for both archival and new assets.
  • Manage, develop and grow the Digital Media Specialist through monitoring of work and weekly check-ins to both review the week and plan ahead. Provide training on equipment, techniques, and software editing programs.
  • Review analysis and communicate the effectiveness and performance of digital campaigns using web analytic tools to various audiences and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.

In order to be successful and achieve the above responsibilities, the Manager, Digital Media Services must possess the following qualifications:Education Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required. Major in Film, Digital Media, English, Journalism, Communications, or Marketing preferred.
Experience Required:
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience filming and producing video content, video editing, story telling, photography and and photo editing, and audio editing, required
  • Management experience is preferred
  • Bi-lingual Spanish is preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Passionate storyteller with a track record of developing impactful video content, from sourcing subjects to conducting interviews, to choosing selects
  • Exceptional project management skills. Organized and capable of managing multiple projects in production simultaneously at various stages of completion
  • Ability to juggle short-term and long-term tasks and responsibilities
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting with multiple contributors on projects
  • Ability to multi-task projects, people and events to get the job done
  • Ability to think strategically and create deliverables that align with communications goals accordingly
  • Ability to capture and edit video, photos, and sound
  • Ability to work outside of normal work hours when necessary to ensure coverage of events and completion of projects on deadline
  • Excellent customer support and relationship management skills
  • Demonstrated competency in Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Premiere Express, Elements, Lightroom, Illustrator)
  • Demonstrated competency in Apple products (Final Cut Pro, iMovie)
  • Background in the technical production and delivery of Live Streaming
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Sound decision-making
  • Ability and willingness to work collaboratively with others
Conditions of EmploymentAs a condition of employment with the Chicago Public Schools (CPS), employees are required to:
  • Establish/Maintain Chicago Residency - Employees are required to live within the geographic boundaries of the City of Chicago within six months of their CPS hire date and maintain residency throughout their employment with the district. The Chicago residency requirement does not apply to temporary/part-time positions, however, all CPS employees must be residents of Illinois.
  • Be Fully Vaccinated Against COVID-19 - Unless approved for a medical or religious exemption, all employees are required to be up-to-date on COVID-19 vaccinations, including boosters, and to submit proof of vaccination to the district within 30 days of hire. “Up-to-date” on vaccination is defined as being at least two weeks past all primary vaccine doses and any applicable boosters.
