Job Description:OVERVIEWPositionDirector – Tech and Digital EngineeringJob Codex270Reports toThe Head of Engineering, THE LINEDirect Reportsx271- SM - BMS, x272 – SM – Computational Engineering, x273 – SM – BIM, BH001 – Consultant T&D EngineeringDivision/SectionTHE LINE Design, EngineeringDepartmentEngineeringRegionThe LINE DevelopmentJob FamilyEngineeringRole PurposeWorking as part of a single LINE organization to be accountable for the successful delivery of the T&D engineering of THE LINE region.THE LINE region contains a variety of projects in a 9,500km2 land area, including the initial Hidden Marina Mirror Line phase 1 modules, the Landscapes of THE LINE, three ‘special projects’ and the NEOM International Airport (NIA)..Reporting to the Head of Engineering, THE LINE (line manager) and strong collaboration with the Executive Director Digital & Cognitive Solutions (dotted line). The Director is working closely with the Digital & Cognitive Solutions team on the establishment of the NEOM way of developing all the assets leading into NEOM The LINE Cognitive City.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & ACTIVITIESDuties and responsibilitiesKEY ACCOUNTABILITY
  • Successful delivery of the T&D engineering scope for THE LINE in a manner that supports the successful delivery of the project goals in terms of budget, schedule, quality and sustainability. Being part of the team accountable for delivering the multi-disciplinary engineering for THE LINE region.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop a comprehensive T&D Engineering strategy aligned with the LINE delivery strategy.
  • Develop implementation plans for T&D Engineering that consider project-specific requirements, timelines, and budgets. Align plans with the overarching mission and objectives, ensuring a clear roadmap for achieving our goals.
  • Develop and be accountable for the digital transformation approach for the delivery of NEOM The LINE, with a primary focus on design, engineering, planning and construction.
  • Liaise with NEOM The LINE teams and NEOM Sectors to develop a digital execution strategy to support their ambitions with their professional teams, working with all NEOM’s participants.
  • Be exemplar for other NEOM Regions and Projects in area of Digital Transformation strategy.
  • As part of the broader digital team in NEOM, work across all interfaces to provide leadership and direction, resulting in collaboration across the organization.
  • Develop Digital Object Model approaches to support supply chain engagement at scale, working alongside the broader The LINE team.
  • Deliver external visibility for the NEOM digital way in the global market and present findings at global industry events.
  • Lead oversight roles (Plan of Work stages 3 and 4 and Technical support) to all NEOM The LINE teams.
  • Develop technical standards and implement plans and objectives for the department in an effective and innovative approach.
  • Incubate and leverage relationships with academic institutions, research partners, hardware / software vendors and tech startups.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and excellence. Provide mentorship, guidance, and direction to ensure the successful execution of the T&D Engineering strategy.
  • Demonstrate a strong ability to analyze complex issues and develop innovative solutions to overcome obstacles to ensure successful project execution.
  • Define key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the impact of T&D Engineering on project timelines, costs, and environmental footprint.
  • Regularly monitor and report on progress to leadership.
  • Leverage knowledge of latest advancements and trends in T&D Engineering to inform decision-making.
BACKGROUND, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONSKnowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Minimum 25 years' experience in (industry & role) or in relevant field of expertise, with minimum 15 years senior management experience
  • Degree Educated and membership of international institutions in related areas
  • Strong working knowledge of digital design, engineering, planning and construction environments
  • Strong problem-solving abilities
  • Familiarity with relevant industry regulations
  • Outstanding leadership and organizational skills
  • Competent collaborator and skilled cross-functional communicator
Qualifications
  • Minimum MSc in (Engineering) or related field; MBA degree preferred
