The Standard, Singapore will be the city’s new social hub featuring 143 rooms opening in Q3 2024. With its prime location on Orange Grove Road, The Standard, Singapore is one of very few ground-up hotels to be built in proximity to Orchard Road, Singapore’s premier shopping destination. The district boasts a myriad of international and local brands across retail, dining, and entertainment establishments and is well patronised by both tourists and locals. The hotel is also a short walk from the celebrated UNESCO Singapore Botanical Gardens through the picturesque Nassim neighbourhood.The hotel will feature The Standard’s signature restaurant and nightlife vibrancy, and arts and cultural programming along with an infinity pool and pool bar set within a lush botanical courtyard.Job DescriptionAs a Learning and Development Executive for a pre-opening hotel, you will play a crucial role in preparing the team for the hotel's opening and ensuring that all colleagues are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver exceptional service. While prior experience is beneficial, we welcome fresh graduates who possess excellent communication skills, a penchant for public speaking, and a passion for hospitality.Key Responsibilities:
  • Execute, organise and administer training programme (including, but not limited to, Orientation and Service Training) based on training needs analysis (TNA) in line with the goals of the hotel
  • Design, develop, and implement comprehensive training programs tailored to the specific needs of each department, ensuring alignment with the hotel's standards and objectives.
  • Deliver engaging and informative training sessions to employees, utilising effective public speaking techniques to captivate and motivate participants.
  • Tracks all internal and external training records and ensures that mandatory training with expiry or refresher dates does not lapse.
  • Source and plan for external training or trainers if required.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of training programs through ongoing evaluation and feedback mechanisms, making necessary adjustments to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Ensure that all training activities comply with regulatory requirements and industry standards, particularly in areas such as health and safety, diversity and inclusion, and ethical conduct.
  • Maintain accurate records of training activities, attendance, and evaluations, and generate regular reports to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
  • Liaise and maintain good relations with local and overseas hospitality schools to get a stable source of interns and possibly lead to continuation of employment after their internship.
  • Manage the internship experience for all interns from onboarding to off-boarding.
  • Build and maintain a strong pool of casuals/part-time workforce to cater to business needs.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree/Diploma in Hospitality Management, Human Resources, Education, or a related field.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a confident and articulate speaking style.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage and inspire diverse audiences.
  • Passion for hospitality and a genuine desire to help others succeed.
  • Organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and resourcefulness is a plus.
  • While prior experience in a similar role is preferred, we welcome fresh graduates with the right aptitude and enthusiasm to excel in this position.
