Receptionist (Vancouver Community Mental Health Services) - Summer Position

- Be responsible for greeting patients, clients, visitors and directing them to appropriate areas.
- Provide information services; respond to requests for information, such as location of facilities and personnel, telephone numbers and general information or refers to others.
- Maintain lists, staff directories and tidiness of reception area.
- Operate a switchboard to answer incoming calls; obtain/provide information, transfer to the appropriate department/area, take/relay messages and/or page as required.
- Respond to emergency signals in accordance with established codes and procedures.
- Process incoming and outgoing mail; receive, open and date stamp incoming mail, package, sort and distribute, prepare outgoing mail, sign courier receipts and send/ receive faxes.
- Perform a variety of clerical duties such as maintain files and office supplies, schedule appointments and book meeting rooms.
- Perform general word processing and data entry functions.
- Grade 12, Office Assistant Certificate and six (6) months recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Ability to be sensitive, tactful and diplomatic with clients and the public.
- Knowledge of general office procedures.
- Ability to type 30 w.p.m.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work independently and effectively with others.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
- Computer skills; able to operate a computerized client care information system , word processing and spreadsheet software
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
