We are recruiting on behalf of a small animal practice in Bathgate, West Lothian for a Permanent Head Veterinary Nurse to join their team. This role is full time for 40 hours per week over 4 or 5 days, along with 1 in 6 Saturdays from 8:30am to 1pm with time off in lieu. There will also be 1 in 5 weeknights on-call for inpatient care.Key details
  • Type: Small animal
  • Hours: Full time, 40 hours per week over 4 or 5 days
  • Weekends: 1 in 6 Saturdays, 8:30am to 1pm
  • OOH: 1 in 5 weeknights on-call, inpatient care shared with a vet
  • On-call: Inpatient care only
  • Branch work: N/A
  • Computer system: Merlin
  • Team: 6 vets, 3 RVNs, 4 SVNs and a supportive non-clinical team
About the role
  • Your duties will include managing the nursing team, nurse clinics, monitoring anaesthetics, venepuncture, taking and processing radiographs, routine laboratory work, dentistry, IV placement and caring for hospitalised patients
  • You will play a vital role in promoting preventative health care and educating clients in this area

Package
  • Salary: Up to £36,000 per annum, commensurate to experience
  • Holidays: 6.8 weeks annual leave, increasing with service and birthday off
  • CPD: Generous allowance of £550 with 24 hours to attend

Must haves:
  • RCVS registered and qualified or soon to be
