If you are looking for a career with a business where people really count, look no further than JCB.Overview of the role:JCB is looking for a Senior Engineer to join the Excavator Engineering Team.We have a wealth of recent high-profile excavator launches, including a brand new range of Next Generation Compact excavators and have big plans for developing our product range.We are now looking for a Senior Engineer to join our ambitious team supporting our current product range - based at our Compact Products facility in Cheadle, Staffordshire.If you are a dynamic, multi-discipline engineer with a strong sense of Urgency, who thrives on working across multiple disciplines and Products, then this is the role for you!The Ideal Candidate will:· Demonstrate creativity and innovation.· Will be able to complete full engineering change releases, and support our other team members with drawing/change release checking.· Have an awareness of cost implications for full component life cycle.· Suggest ways of continuous improvement and actively promote cost reduction and quality improvement activities.· Be competent with systems and procedures of the department e.g. CAD/PLM/ SOPs/FFPSO/FMEA.· Understand test procedures, rig operation, test equipment etc. Support test and development sign off processes.· Be familiar with and demonstrate a good understanding of the 8D process.· Demonstrates ability to take responsibility for the design/development of modules / subsystem e.g. Cooling pack, Hydraulic system, Bodywork. - From concept to on-line manufacture.· Be capable of executing analysis / calculations. E.g. cooling calculations, stress/stain, component life etc.· Be capable of working from an engineering brief as well as arrangement models.· Understand the impact on full machine systems and the impact of change.· Interpret standards and apply to the product range.· Have a positive impact and influence on both colleagues and work outside their own area of responsibility.· Be capable of presenting to groups of people both formally and informally in a confident effective manner.· Positively represent the JCB group e.g. to both suppliers and customers.· Be capable of correctly interpreting and using test data.· Contribute meaningfully to discussions on complete systems as well as sub-system/component level.· Compile detail and supporting activity for technical requirements, costs & legislative requirements.· Demonstrate Sound engineering knowledge and understanding.Your Responsibilities as a Senior Engineer:· Completion of full Product improvement documentation, including 8Ds· Suggest ways of continuous improvement.· Actively promoting cost reduction and quality improvement activities· Problem solving using the 8D process.· Supporting analysis / calculations. E.g. Cooling calcs, stress/stain, component life etc.· Maintain engineering sign-off data/legislation/DVPSOR.· Interpret test data/results.· VA/VE - managing the delivery of annual cost saving targets from idea generation through to implementation.· Directly support Manufacturing, Materials, Purchasing, Sales and assembly teams, quickly and effectively.· Sales Specials, - provide customers and dealers with tailored bespoke engineering solutions.· Work closely with JCB Service and the Dealer network to deliver world class product support and issue resolution.· Work closely with the Excavator product team and the cross functional support teams including experts from our Operator Environment, Propulsion, Structures & Hydraulics and Electronics & Controls engineering teams.About you:· Problem solving - methodical and pragmatic, action-based problem solving.· Have awareness of cost implications for full component life cycle· Demonstrate creativity and innovation.· Understand impact on full systems of own work / Full machine system awareness· Strong communicator and team player.· A self-starter, being able to move quickly and effectively.Rewards you deserve:This is your chance to join a company that values expertise not only in rewards but also in real employee care.
