Job SummaryThe Physician Assistant has the primary responsibility for the diagnosis and management of chronic and acute otolaryngology conditions for pediatric or adult patients with complex medical and surgical needs in the outpatient ambulatory clinical setting as well in the hospital setting. The PA will be responsible for carrying out independent assessment and diagnosis, following established protocols, performing otolaryngology related procedures under the standardized procedure protocols, conducting patient education, performing post-op care and related duties as required for patients.Primary site: Bayfront - 520 Illinois Street, San Francisco, CA 94107

  • Minimum two (2) years independent practice experience.
  • Experience performing simple procedures independently.
  • Experience working in a surgical specialty as a PA.
  • Demonstrated excellence in the following areas: clinical practice, communication, clinical case management, and problem identification/resolution.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, professional attitude, and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with a diverse professional and patient population.
  • Ability to satisfactorily perform job duties as defined in the job duties/ function.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior Otolaryngology practice experience.
  • Prior work experience in an academic medical center.
  • Evidence of professional development through certification, conference attendance, post-graduate education, teaching duties, etc.
  • Secondary language fluency.
License/Certification
  • Hold an active and current California Physician Assistant License (PA).
  • California driver's license (CDL) if required for position .
  • Hold current national board certification by first day of work and maintain.
  • Hold an active and transferable DEA license to California and have evidence of transfer by 90th day of clinical practice. (It is the responsibility of the employee to transfer their DEA license to their new place of employment if from out of state, via online DEA portal and provide evidence of transfer).
  • Completion of a AAPA recognized graduate master's degree program as a physician assistant.
  • Submit enrollment with CMS Medicare and Medicaid through the credentialing process by first clinical day.
  • Hold current AHA BLS.
UCSF Medical Center and Campus requires certain healthcare providers to be credentialed. In most cases this is done through its Office of Medical Affairs & Governance (OMAG) prior to the first working day. This position is a clinical role therefor no call, weekends, nights or holiday coverage is required. The Department of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery offers a broad scope of outpatient and inpatient services for the management of ear, nose, and throat diagnosis.
