  • Provide tailored support to secondary school students with special educational needs, including but not limited to autism spectrum disorder (ASD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and specific learning difficulties.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and SENCO to implement individual education plans (IEPs) and differentiated instruction strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
  • Assist with classroom management and behavior support, promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students, delivering targeted interventions to support their academic progress and social-emotional development.
  • Use specialist knowledge and expertise to adapt curriculum materials and resources to facilitate access and engagement for students with SEN.
  • Collaborate with external professionals and agencies to ensure a holistic approach to meeting the needs of students with SEN.
  • Uphold safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure the welfare and safety of all students in our care.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or Specialist Support Assistant in a secondary school setting, preferably with experience supporting students with SEN.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in special educational needs, such as a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
  • Specialist knowledge and expertise in supporting students with a range of SEN, including ASD, ADHD, and specific learning difficulties.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and families.
  • Empathy, patience, and a genuine commitment to supporting the diverse needs of students with SEN.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and upholding the highest standards of practice.
