You must submit an application until you receive a confirmation email.RESPONSIBILITIES:This is routing work involving the responsibility for the efficient, economic and palatable preparation and cooking of a variety of foods. Incumbents work under the direct supervision of a Cook Manager and may supervise Food Service Helpers.TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES;Prepares and cooks a variety of foods;
Uses approved scientific methods of preparation and quantity recipes;
Cooks meats and vegetables;
Prepares soups and broths;
Makes salads, sandwiches, desserts, and a variety of other foods;
When directed to do so, plans menus, requisitions food and performs other managerial duties;
May on occasion work at steam table;
Assists in the serving of meals;
May assist in cleaning activities;
May assist the Cook Manager in maintaining simple records of food and supplies that are received and used;
Performs related duties as required.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS(A) Graduation from High School, GED or Equivalency Diploma and one year of full-time experience in quantity food preparation;or(B) An equivalent combination of education and experience.NOTE: Verifiable part-time experience will be pro-rated to meet full-time experience requirements. Proof of education must be presented at time of appointment.APPOINTMENT:Appointments are subject to the approval of the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following the approval of the Civil Service Division.
