Reporting to the Senior Manager, the appointee will be responsible for the development of sustainable power quality solutions, introduction and application of new technologies and new equipment and consultation to our customers to improve their systems and products for mitigating power quality issues.Major Duties
  • Direct and control the development of Power Quality (PQ) monitoring & management systems and solutions, applications and introduction of new technologies and new equipment including system analysis, fault analysis, stakeholder engagement and product evaluation, system specification preparation, tender evaluation, design and engineering
  • Monitor and review the performance of the PQ mitigation equipment / products and formulate improvement plans to ensure highest reliability and performance
  • Monitor and review the PQ performance data to develop the optimal application of new technologies to achieve best power supply quality; minimize voltage dips impacts and harmonics
  • Keep abreast of the regulations and code of practices in related to power quality and establish strategies to lobby with government bodies / professional institutions / trade associations
  • Engage with different stakeholders to investigate equipment interruptions, such as lift trapping, resulting from voltage dips, and gather essential data for analysis and mitigation purpose
  • Develop and maintain positive relationship with customers, equipment manufacturers, utilities, trade associations and institutions and meet their expectations on PQ mitigation solutions; conduct site trials as when needed
  • Develop effective PQ meter installation / acceptance / maintenance and operation policies / standards / practices and contingency plans for all new systems and equipment
  • Deliver power quality training to both internal and external audiences for effective knowledge dissemination, including secondary school students and fresh engineers, and conduct seminars in professional bodies, serving as a guide for power quality workshops
  • Manage budgets for power quality improvement projects and new technology projects
  • Implement control procedures and practices on project management, operations and contractor performance in accordance with the Company's management systems of health, safety, security, environment and quality (HSSEQ)
  • Take an active role in the management of IT assets with full compliance
Requirements
  • A recognized university degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or relevant discipline
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
  • Sound knowledge in the design, installation, acceptance, computer simulation, commissioning, operation and maintenance practices of the electrical power supply systems
  • Keep abreast of the latest technology and possess ability to creatively exploit and apply the new technologies
  • Familiar with CLP Power Safety Rules, engineering standards, codes of practice and relevant statutory regulations
  • Be mindful and has good safety awareness and track record
  • Possess sound commercial judgement and decision making abilities; able to exercise analytical and strategic approach to drive for sustainable business results
  • Open to new ways of doing things at work and able to speak up constructively to bring different views in team environments
  • Possess a valid Driving License class 1, 2 or 1a, 2a would be an advantage
