- Electrical System Design: Design and implement electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, emergency power, and low-voltage systems, for healthcare facilities.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and regulations, including NFPA, NEC, and Joint Commission requirements.
- Equipment Integration: Collaborate with healthcare equipment suppliers and facility planners to integrate medical and diagnostic equipment seamlessly into electrical systems.
- Project Management: Manage electrical engineering projects, including planning, budgeting, and overseeing contractors to ensure timely completion.
- Testing and Inspection: Perform electrical system testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning to ensure operational reliability and safety.
- Energy Efficiency: Develop strategies to enhance energy efficiency and sustainability within healthcare facilities.
- Documentation: Prepare and maintain detailed schematics, plans, and reports for all electrical systems and modifications.
- Collaboration: Work with architects, mechanical engineers, and healthcare professionals to ensure systems meet functional and patient safety requirements.
- Emergency Systems: Design and maintain critical systems, including backup power and uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), to ensure continuous operation during power outages.
- This role will be required 80% in-office and 20% client meetings.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in electrical engineering, with at least 2 years in healthcare settings.
- Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, or similar).
- Strong knowledge of NEC, NFPA 99, and NFPA 70 standards.
- Experience with healthcare-specific systems, such as nurse call, fire alarms, and medical imaging equipment integration.
- Familiarity with renewable energy and energy-efficient solutions in healthcare settings.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Experience with hospital construction or renovation projects is preferred.
- Knowledge of facility management systems and Building Information Modeling (BIM) is preferred.
- Familiarity with infection control protocols during construction and maintenance is preferred.
