Job Title: Application Assistant, Building & Planning (Full-Time)
Work Hours: Normal hours of work are thirty-five (35) hours per week, usually Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a one (1) hour unpaid meal break. Flexibility in scheduling is necessary as there may be the occasional requirement to attend to functions outside of normal work hours, change shifts to work evenings or weekends to accommodate high volume periods or for after-hours customer service initiatives, or to work overtime as needed.
Wage: $51,287.60 to $65,429.00 ($28.18 to $35.95 per hour)

This position is responsible for providing efficient support services to the CBO and/or Manager, Planning in the preparation of statistical reports, circulation/notice for planning applications, and as a back-up for reception at the Planning and Building Services counter and other administrative functions, when necessary. The main duties and responsibilities of the position are in the areas of: Planning and Building applications and file management; administrative support; and, other division functions.Qualifications: The preferred candidate possesses the following:Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
1. Post-Secondary education, including business and computer courses, together with one (1) year of related experience.2. Successful completion of the Municipal Administration Program, and completion of (or enrolled in) Primer on Planning Certification, the Ministry of Municipal Affairs General Legal/Process Course. Community Planning and Zoning Administration course is an asset.3. Working knowledge of municipal functions in land use planning and the Ontario Building Code as well as experience with statutory procedures, Official Plans, and zoning bylaws is an asset. Familiarity with the disciplines associated with land use planners and building officials and their functions, such as Civil Engineers, Architects, Landscape Architects, Appraisers, general contractors, designers, the Land Registry is an asset.4. Excellent administrative, communication, interpersonal, organizational, time management, and public relations skills, together with the ability to use tact and discretion and to deal courteously and effectively with the public and fellow staff members.5. Ability to multi-task, cope with interruptions and work under pressure to meet multiple deadlines, exercise discretion and good judgment particularly when handling highly confidential/sensitive information. Possess a high level of initiative and personal integrity.6. Thorough working knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office applications, database management, and office equipment. Knowledge of GIS mapping and Cityview software is an asset.7. Valid Class ā€œGā€ driver's license and reliable vehicle to use on corporate business. Ability and willingness to travel within the community as required.8.
