We value continuous learning and professional development, offering opportunities for career growth and advancement within the organization.Role Overview:Our client are seeking a motivated and tech-savvy individual to join our IT support team as an Apprentice 1st/2nd Line IT Support Technician. This role offers hands-on experience and the opportunity to learn and develop key skills in Linux, server maintenance, networking, and cybersecurity. As an apprentice, you will work alongside experienced IT professionals who will mentor you and provide guidance throughout your apprenticeship.This is an exciting opportunity for individuals looking to kickstart their career in IT support and gain valuable industry experience.Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Assist with the maintenance and administration of Linux-based servers and systems.
  • Learn and implement security best practices to protect systems and data from cyber threats.
  • Monitor and respond to alerts related to system performance, network connectivity, and cybersecurity incidents.
  • Collaborate with the IT team to resolve escalated technical issues and ensure timely resolution.
  • Assist in the setup, configuration, and deployment of IT infrastructure and equipment.
  • Learn and apply networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VLANs.
  • Document processes, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for future reference.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Strong interest in IT support and eagerness to learn new technologies.
  • Basic understanding of Linux operating systems (Ubuntu, CentOS, etc.) is desirable.
  • Familiarity with networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs).
  • Knowledge or interest in cybersecurity principles and best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
  • A-levels or equivalent qualifications are desirable, but not mandatory. Relevant coursework or self-study in IT-related subjects would be advantageous.
Entry Requirements:
  • 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)
  • Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship is in a similar subject
You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. Salary & Hours: £15,000 - £16,000 PA, Mon - Fri - 8.30am - 5pm 1 hour lunchHolidays: 20 days, plus all Bank Holidays, increasing by one day per additional year of serviceOther ‘Perks’:
