Join our Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick team as a Senior Engineering Manager on Sellafield and you can build something to be proud of here.OverviewLead and manage engineering on the BBK projects as part of the Sellafield PPP framework.Responsible for leading, co-ordinating and delivering design and engineering work. Specifically, from a line management perspective, managing and developing design and engineering capabilities to deliver the requirements of the project; including internal and external subject matter experts, aligned with the PPP framework strategy.What you'll be doingAs a Senior Engineering Manager, you will have the following responsibilities,
  • Responsible for all engineering sub functions.
  • Support PPP bid submissions to deliver a true value proposition to the customer, aligned with strategy, in pursuit of contractual KPIs and ECI phases.
  • Represent BBK as the main engineering discipline point of contact for PPP projects, and, liaise with the relevant centre of excellence and colleagues to organise attendance at appropriate client facing meetings and workshops.
  • Lead and present on Engineering matters at Work Winning, Operations, and Customer meetings.
  • Develop collaborative working relationships to provide Lean, Expert, Trusted and Safe solutions.
  • Manage internal and external engineers to oversee the compilation of work packs in good time, and within budget including appropriate risk management and mitigation.
  • Ensure the scope of the projects are fully understood
  • Create engineering strategy documents for projects including design engineering plans and design quality plans.
  • Ensure documentation and associated work packs are buildable.
  • Identify and manage Modern Methods of Construction solutions including PPMOF & DfMA.
  • Have an oversight of contractual positioning, planning, programme assurance and technical inputs during the ECI & ECC stages of PPP projects.
Who we're looking forThis is a management role for an individual with proven experience in successfully leading engineering functions within a regulated industry.The following qualities/experience are essential:
  • A relevant professional qualification or membership, in the field of mechanical and/ or electrical engineering; ideally the individual will have attained chartered status in their field.
  • Extensive experience in engineering management of multi discipline projects within regulated industries.
  • Skilled in the management of design development and reviews.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Comfortable with delegating and proactively supporting the development of others, to nourish a high performing team
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance.
