- Creating a business development strategy with key internal stakeholders and effectively execute against the plan
- Evaluate potential partnerships to develop a target partner list that enhances Shift's capabilities and play a key role in closing these new business opportunities
- Leads all conversations & negotiations across all deal stages
- Set up and track all Business Development activities within a CRM
- Develop and maintain an intimate knowledge of the Shift browser experience and be able to articulate this effectively to potential partners
- Keep a keen eye on the competitive browser landscape, and consider all deals/partnerships you see occurring in our space
- Even after the deal is done, continue to handle existing partnerships relationships and ensure the experience of working with Shift is a phenomenal one
- Work effectively with a variety of internal teams including product, tech, marketing, legal, finance, and Shift leadership
- You have been onboarded with the team and have a sense of how you will fit within, and lead, the business development strategy
- You have met other cross-functional leaders to understand company goals and objectives.
- You have a keen understanding of Shift’s business model and what moves the needle
- You understand the Shift product direction and how you will support it from a deal perspective (revenue, UX, distribution, brand, etc)
- You have set up your CRM, and have started to map out some targets
- You have a deep understanding of our mission for Shift and our goals for 2024
- You have defined targets and are actively engaging in multiple conversations
- You are comfortable identifying potential partnerships within the browser ecosystem
- You have great rapport with the both the Shift Leadership Team and the Team at large
- Deals you have done have added immense value to the Shift product from multiple angles (revenue, UX, distribution, brand, etc)
- You have contributed a few key partnerships that have helped us on our path to become a world class browser
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field of study is preferred
- 10+ years’ experience in business development and/or consulting
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Proven track record in managing and developing client relationships
- Deal experience for a D2C software product is an advantage
- Deal experience within a startup is an advantage
- A strong understanding of the overall monetization ecosystem for a browser
- A strong understanding of potential partnerships within the browser ecosystem
- A keen interest in the browser & search space
- Experience working in a fast-paced competitive environment and is results-driven and competitive
- Excellent client relations skills with the proven ability to form relationships and produce results
- The ability to operate at the strategic level, yet being close enough to the details to add value to customers and be a real support to your team.
- Have an entrepreneurial nature that will thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently and manage through ambiguous situations
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Experience and poise to interact with executives internally and externally
