As a Senior Occupational Therapist specializing in manual handling, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality professional social work practices across Adult Social Care within Birmingham City Council. Your responsibilities will encompass working with adults in accordance with the Care Act 2014, emphasizing good practice, citizen focus, and exemplary leadership. You will be instrumental in the effective management, operation, and development of Adult Social Care services, aligning with the City Councils objectives, statutory duties, and responsibilities. Your efforts will be aimed at enhancing positive outcomes for adults residing in Birmingham.Key Responsibilities:Manage a caseload of complex cases, providing expert assessment, intervention, and support to individuals requiring manual handling assistance.
Provide management supervision to a cluster of staff, ensuring adherence to professional standards, best practices, and regulatory requirements.
Lead practice improvement activities aimed at developing innovative approaches, systems, and processes to enhance service delivery and outcomes for citizens.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, external partners, and stakeholders to coordinate and optimize care provision, promoting independence, well-being, and quality of life for service users.
Stay abreast of legislative changes, policy developments, and emerging trends in occupational therapy and social care, integrating new knowledge into service delivery and practice.
Requirements:Bachelors or Masters degree in Occupational Therapy or a related field.
Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as an Occupational Therapist.
Significant experience working within Adult Social Care settings, with a focus on manual handling and complex needs.
Demonstrated leadership abilities, including the supervision and management of staff or projects.
Thorough understanding of the Care Act 2014 and its implications for adult social care practice.
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including service users, families, colleagues, and external partners.
Commitment to continuous professional development and the enhancement of service provision through innovation and best practices.
