Ealing Council Property Services delivers comprehensive building maintenance and facilities services to over 100 buildings across the borough. This is an opportunity to join the Mechanical Maintenance Engineering team who carry out repairs and maintenance to mechanical building installations and plant within the Council’s commercial properties.You will:
  • Make site visits, investigating faults and carrying out repairs and/or reporting back required remedial works to mechanical equipment including hot and cold water systems, plant and plumbing facilities
  • Inspect and monitor plant, equipment or the environment to assess condition and performance, and diagnose the cause of faults
  • Assist in preparation of costings for quoted works including assessing requirements for labour and materials
  • Liaise and work in close partnership with Property Services’ electrical and fabric engineering teams and sub-contractors to provide a comprehensive mechanical engineering service
Successful candidates will need the following:
  • full UK Driving Licence
  • C&G level 2/3 in Plumbing
  • working knowledge and experience of maintenance and repair of mechanical installations ideally across a commercial portfolio
  • understanding and working awareness of Health and Safety regulations and systems including statutory compliance, asbestos awareness, working at heights and PPE sufficient to safely access environments
  • ability to form positive relationships with colleagues, work flexibly as part of a team
  • effective verbal and written communication skills including completing job reports in plain English
  • computer Literacy including use of handheld PDAs and Microsoft Office packages.
