Offer DescriptionThe hosting structureThe Curie Institute Research CenterThe “Institut Curie” is a major player in the research and fight against cancer. It consists of a hospital and a Research Center of more than 1000 employees with a strong international representativeness. The objective of the Curie Institute Research Center is to develop basic research and to use the knowledge produced to improve the diagnosis, prognosis, and therapeutics of cancers as part of the continuum between basic research and innovation serving the patient.Job descriptionLaboratoryThe researcher will join the Innate Immunity in Physiology and Cancer team ( ), within the Immunology and Cancer Unit (U932). The team specialises in studying the molecular mechanisms of defence in place to protect cells from insults, including from pathogen infection. Mechanisms are explored in non-transformed cells, as well as in cancer. In the latter, we specifically assess if mechanisms of interest can be targeted for antitumor therapy. The team recently discovered a novel inflammatory protein which plays a pivotal role in the toll-like receptor pathway of innate immunity, by producing an inflammatory second messenger. Our goal is now to determine if the inflammatory properties of this protein could be harnessed to engineer novel immunotherapies against cancer.MissionsThe hired researcher will pilot a project dedicated to transform the newly-discovered protein into an immunotherapy active against cancer. It entails:
  • Cellular and molecular biology, including cell culture, nucleic acid and protein analysis
  • Experimentation with mouse models of tumors
  • Data analysis, discussion and presentation in team meetings
  • Team work
