Closing Date: June 30, 2024Position Summary
Research Quality Integration supports the UHN research community by identifying risks to quality, and opportunities for improvement, facilitating safe, effective and efficient solutions to enable regulatory compliance, while achieving best practice standards in research at UHN. The Research Quality Associate works with the research community, including scientists, research teams, senior leadership, Research Solutions & Service leadership, conducting and reporting internal quality audits and promoting leading practices in quality, risk management and responsible conduct of research.Duties:
  • Coordinating and leading research quality audits, collaborating with Investigators and research teams in identifying gaps and facilitating corrective and preventive actions;
  • Collection, analysis of related program data, trending results, preparing key performance indicators, participating in preparation of executive reporting;
  • Assisting in the coordination and support of risk management activities, collaborating with risk owners to identify, assess, evaluate, plan and monitor risk mitigation strategies
  • Assessing and monitoring of the internal and external research environment, governing legislation, guidelines and regulations to facilitate identification of potential risks or quality gaps;
  • Managing projects that are integral to RQI strategic initiatives, including coordinating and conducting research program review activities, and system/process gap analyses;
  • Participating in the development and communication of research best practice standards, including delivering effective education, training and support to research programs.
  • Benchmarking and evaluation of research programs, services, systems, tools
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in health science or related field; Masters preferred
  • Minimum four years in an academic research environment (wet/dry lab, clinical research)
  • Strong working knowledge of regulatory requirements, standards, issues related to the research environment
  • Experience in quality audit processes, ideally in an academic research environment
  • Outstanding ability to interact with, engage, and build relationships with diverse stakeholders including scientists, researchers, senior-level executives, management, and front-line staff.
  • Expertise in business writing including policy, standards, reports, meeting minutes
  • Experience in developing, analyzing, and implementing policy
  • Excellent project management skills, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Outstanding collaborative approach and interpersonal skill.
  • Strong experience in application of program planning and evaluation methodology
  • Strong critical thinking skills
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong data management and analysis skills
  • Excellent computer skills including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
