The School of Arts, Languages and Cultures at the University of Manchester invites applications for a 1-year teaching and scholarship post in Greek (and Latin) literature, within the Department of Classics, Ancient History, Archaeology and Egyptology (CAHAE).The successful candidate will have, or will be close to completing, a PhD in Greek or Latin literature. They will have University teaching experience in the area of Greek literature, will be able to teach an introductory Greek course and a L1 course on Latin literature (Aeneid); they should be able to demonstrate the effectiveness of their teaching.The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the delivery and assessment of existing undergraduate course units in Greek and Latin literature, potentially consisting of contributions to the following courses: Aeneid (L1), Greek Epic (L2+L3), Gods, Kings and Heroes (L2+L3), an introductory course on Greek language and an MA course on Hellenistic Poetry.The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to administration for the Department as requested, and to play a full role in regular recruitment activities and staff-student events. They should demonstrate the ability to undertake the academic supervision and pastoral support of undergraduates.What you will get in return:
