In this role, you will lead and provide expert medical care to patients presenting with acute stroke, ensuring timely assessment, diagnosis, and treatment to optimize outcomes.   • Lead and coordinate the hyper-acute stroke service, including overseeing the acute stroke pathway and ensuring adherence to national guidelines and best practice standards.
  • Provide expert clinical assessment and management of patients with acute stroke, including administering thrombolysis and other acute interventions as appropriate.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including stroke nurses, therapists, radiologists, and neurologists, to deliver comprehensive and integrated care to stroke patients.
  • Participate in stroke thrombectomy procedures and other advanced interventional treatments for acute stroke as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Provide leadership and supervision to junior medical staff, trainees, and students, including participating in teaching and training activities.
  • Participate in clinical audits, research projects, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance stroke care delivery and contribute to advancements in stroke medicine.
  • Act as an advocate for stroke patients and their families, ensuring their needs are met and promoting patient-centered care throughout the stroke pathway.
Requirements:
  • Medical degree from a recognized medical school
  • Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) and inclusion on the Specialist Register for Stroke Medicine (or eligibility for registration)
  • Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP) or equivalent qualification
  • Substantial experience working as a Stroke Consultant in a hyper-acute stroke unit or similar setting
  • Demonstrated expertise in the assessment, diagnosis, and management of acute stroke, including thrombolysis and stroke thrombectomy procedures
  • Excellent clinical and communication skills, with the ability to lead and collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality, evidence-based stroke care and promoting excellence in clinical practice
  • Strong leadership and team-working abilities, with a passion for stroke medicine and improving outcomes for stroke patients
