- Provide support to the Country Representative in strategic planning for the Guatemala Country Office:
- Provide substantive inputs on the formulation of concept notes for UN Women's Economic Empowerment Area; as well as the office's strategic note;
- Provide inputs to the development of country programming processes and products, including the annual workplan, strategic note, and Economic Empowerment programme ad project documents, the preparation of the UN Common Country Assessment and Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNCCA and other UN system joint programming documents;
- Provide technical support to the implementation of strategies to enhance the participation, rights and leadership of Guatemalan women in the economy, with ethnic relevance and solid technical support.
- Follow up on required action/outstanding issues and report on outcome/result.
- Alert the Country Representative Guatemala Country Office on critical issues to be addressed.
- Provide technical support to joint inter-agency UN planning processes and similar exercises;
- Support the facilitation of dialogue between with public bodies (governmental, parliamentary, and judicial) private sector, think tanks, academia and women's organizations to promote participation of women in the economy and decision making at all levels.
- Prepare briefing materials for the CO on issues to be discussed in the UN and other events and meetings;
- Prepare background materials and analysis for the Resident Coordinator (RC) and the UN Country Team (UNCT) on the gender dynamics and opportunities to support inclusive engagement of women in the development assistance provided by the UNCT;
- Provide technical support to UNCT in monitoring and reporting and prepare analytical and regular progress reports on UN Women's programme experiences, as necessary.
- Provide technical support to institutions at the national and local government, congress, women's organizations, and other related institutions to promote women's economic participation in Guatemala.
- Provide support in managing activities and other promotional events to engage bilateral and multilateral institutions/ donors, private sector and civil society to expand and/or sustain interest and resources for UN Women programmes and joint UN system programmes;
- Prepare background documents and analysis for the Country Representative to forge and implement strategic partnerships to increase outreach on UN Women's work in country;
- Provide support to development partners and national counterparts on implementation of key UN frameworks and conventions on gender equality;
- Provide network and capacity development to partner Civil Society Organizations, Private Sector, Think Tanks and other stakeholders, as necessary.
- Update the CO Annual Communication Strategy, develop content and ensure proper management on issues related to economic empowerment and economic autonomy of women of the CO website and social media channels;
- Coordinate and implement advocacy campaigns on issues related to Gender Equality and Women's Economic Empowerment an also with a specific focus on International Women's Day, the HeForShe Campaign and the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence;
- Participate in and contribute to policy dialogues around gender equality and the empowerment of women, as necessary.
- Maintain communication with the working groups on economic empowerment, budgets and social protection of the regional office and the main office of UN Women; to promote knowledge management and dissemination of best practices and strategies for the promotion of women's economic and social rights, including south-south cooperation.
- Provide technical support for the preparation of events and meetings in Guatemala on economics, statistics, social protection and decent employment for women, preparing reports, synthesis, and speeches.
- Participate in technical meetings, seminars, forums and other activities on issues related to economic rights, autonomy, gender statistics and women's participation.
- Coordinate national studies, research and other publications and promote their use by decision makers and women's organizations.
- Provide support to the management of the Economic Empowerment projects and programs, ensuring high quality, compliance with the expected results, and timely reporting to donors and key audiences.
- Supervise Associates, Assistants, and consultants as well as coordinate the related administrative and financial processes, to deliver results with quality and compliance with UN-Women's regulations.
- Provide support to the development and dissemination of good practices and lessons learned; ensure incorporation into programme planning.

- Master's Degree (or equivalent) in international development, public administration, public policy, economics or other relevant social science field is required or
- A first-level university degree in international development, public administration, public policy, economics or other relevant social science field is required
- A project/programme management certification (such as PMP®, PRINCE2®, or MSP®) would be an added advantage.
- Candidate with Master's degree, a minimum 2 years of progressively responsible experience working with inter-agency coordination and strategic programme planning processes; OR
- Candidate with Bachelor's degree, a minimum 4 years of progressively responsible experience working with inter-agency coordination and strategic programme planning processes;
- Experience working in gender equality and women's rights at national/international level is desirable;
- Experience working in developing countries within the UN system, Agencies, Funds or Programs is desirable.
- Fluency in Spanish and English is required;
- Knowledge of other UN official working language(s) is desirable (French, Arabic, Chinese, or Russian).
