Our analytic solutions bridge content, data, and analytics to help business, people, and society become stronger, more resilient, and sustainable.Job DescriptionAs a General Ledger Accountant in Verisk’s Shared Services Center, you'll work with the Supervisor of Technical Accounting to support our equity administration and accounting process (including long-term equity incentive plan (LTIP), ESPP, Sharesave Plan, etc.) while learning about U.S. GAAP, specifically ASC 505 (Equity) and ASC 718 (Stock Based Compensation). The successful candidate will proactively and accurately report daily equity activities to internal stakeholders for required payroll and regulatory reporting as well as carry out all required periodic accounting and internal controls as directed by the supervisor, including preparation of monthly equity activities and accounting entries, equity roll forward, set up termination notices, and fielding questions from participants.Core Responsibilities
  • Prepare Daily reports of equity activities, including stock option exercises and restricted stock lapses, to our Payroll team, and track the activities accurately and completely for monthly entries and reconciliation
  • Create and record monthly journal entries in Verisk’s accounting system stock-based compensation, including LTIP, ESPP, Sharesave Plan, etc.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data in the general ledger according to US GAAP, Corporate Accounting policies, internal SOX control and procedures,
  • Manage communications and respond to requests and questions from plan participants and service providers,
  • Generate financial reports and analysis for internal and external stakeholders,
  • Maintain monthly and quarterly analysis for responsible accounts and areas, including fulfilling requests from GL team, Tax team, SEC team, etc.
  • Support the audit process by providing documentation and explanations for financial transactions,
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliation and investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Actively participate in the monthly closing process, including expense and balance sheet account analysis pertaining to owned areas,
  • Assist in quarterly and annual requests from internal/external audits,
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and auditing departments.
  • Assist managers in financial analysis and ad-hoc projects as needed,
  • Participate in work transition from various location,
  • Identify areas for process improvement and contribute to the enhancement of accounting procedures.
  • Take ownership of annual performance objectives and keep abreast of updates in U.S, GAAP developments for owned areas.
Qualifications
  • 2-3 years of relevant work experience (GL area preferred)
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or other relevant field required
  • Fluency in English (speaking, reading, and writing) required,
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel-extensive knowledge of Pivot Table / Chart, Macros, etc.)
  • Self-starter and strong attention to detail and ability to perform self-review to ensure data integrity and accuracy,
  • Quick learner with good organizational and oral/written communication skills
  • Work well to collaborate across various teams, including accounting, internal/external audit, business units, corporate tax, FP&A, Finance Systems and Reporting, etc.
  • Effective documentation, teamwork, communication, and multi-tasking skills are required. Ability to complete work within deadlines,
