Retail Store & Regional ManagerDayton, Ohio @Orchard LLC has been retained by the Dayton parish of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, a national Christian charitable organization, to find an exceptional Retail Store Manager to lead their thrift operations initially within their central Dayton location, but also to fulfill an expansion mission to open at least two more locations within the Miami Valley of Ohio. St, Vincent de Paul of Dayton provides essential services to care for the unhoused community within the city and surrounding areas, through providing shelter, employment, services, and necessities. The thrift shop and its online presence, play a fundamental role in the mission, providing funds, clothing, and opportunities for those experiencing homelessness.The Store Manager will be responsible for promoting a culture of safety, hospitality, service, honor, and respect among our homeless guests, staff, customers, and volunteers, for the purpose of furthering the vision and mission of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. The Store Manager is a true entrepreneur who will oversee efficient store operations, including retail operations, eCommerce, and production. This role is critical to setting the tone and direction for the store, driving the growth of the current location at Edwin C. Moses Boulevard while helping to open more stores in the Dayton area. Working alongside the St. Vincent de Paul Manager of Logistics, this leader will continue the legacy of positive stewardship of donated goods while helping to achieve a future vision of multiple stores whose profitability will help St. Vincent de Paul continue to people in our community.Specific Responsibilities Include.
  • Support the mission by achieving sales, budget, and profit objectives while ensuring that the store operates in an efficient manner.
  • Lead the retail operations, including eCommerce, marketing, and production.
  • Manage the existing team, and build a strong supervisory team, in particular as additional stores are opened.
  • Using national standards from the St. Vincent de Paul Society, set sales and production goals and hold the team accountable for achieving them.
  • Maximize the use of the point-of-sale system features including the effective use of metrics to communicate results as compared to planned goals to St. Vincent de Paul leadership.
  • Continuously coach and motivate the team to meet assigned goals and expectations.
  • Demonstrate sales leadership for the team by playing an active role on the selling floor.
  • Collaborate with the Chief of Staff and Marketing to identify marketing opportunities to drive sales.
  • Cultivate customer relationships by knowing and engaging repeat clientele.
  • Resolve all customer complaints and issues quickly, efficiently, and with respect resulting in an overall positive experience.
  • Represent the St. Vincent de Paul mission and values to drive customer and staff loyalty.
  • Ensure cash control procedures are properly followed, including bank deposits, safe funds, and petty cash.
  • Manage store P&L by managing controllable expenses and labor costs.
  • Effective scheduling to maintain adequate floor coverage and consistent processing of donations while maintaining payroll budgets.
  • Support, promote, and assume responsibility for loss prevention in all areas of risk management, physical security, store cash controls, and inventory management.
  • Maintain a neat, clean and safe working environment on the sales floor and warehouse.
  • Lead eCommerce activities for maximum return on investment.
  • Participate in national store meetings twice yearly and build a network of relationships across other St. Vincent de Paul store leadership across the country.
  • Seek out and leverage volunteers for daily operations as well as project-based and advisory roles to lead the growth of the stores.
Your background will include.
  • Demonstrated experience managing a retail store, or several stores, preferably with multiple sales channels.
  • Mastery of optimizing sales and production data to drive growth, including optimizing point-of-sale data.
  • The ability to manage with empathy a diverse workforce, and interact with the entire community of customers, employees, vendors, and those served by the mission.
  • Experience working or volunteering for a non-profit organization, or working in thrift or consignment retail would be an advantage.
  • Prior experience in scouting potential retail locations would be an advantage.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and associated tools.
  • Willing to travel locally as necessary to retail operations, engage with neighboring St. Vincent de Paul operators, and to attend the twice-annual national sales meeting of the St. Vincent de Paul Society is required.
