The Philanthropy Officer (Legacy and Planned Giving) is an exciting new role focused on securing philanthropic gifts through the development and implementation of distinct Legacy and Planned Giving programmes. This role will require practices of mass engagement with philanthropy and individual cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of Legacy and Planned gifts from multiple constituencies, including alumni, staff, and supporters of the University.The postholder will be responsible for embedding fundraising and supporter engagement within the University's culture, facilitating an increase in Legacy and Planned Giving. This includes the organisation, administration, and management of all Legacy and Planned Giving fundraising campaigns, and positioning In Memory Giving through mass engagement.The role will act as champion of Legacy and Planned Giving for the whole Development and Alumni Engagement department, creating and refining a Legacy and Planned Giving toolkit and positioning Legacy and Planned Giving as a key part of the supporter journey.For informal enquiries, please contact Chris Smith via email: Chris.P.Smith@Warwick.ac.uk.About You 1You will have excellent knowledge, experience and passion for working in a legacy and planned giving environment and will be comfortable managing a growing legacy pipeline, overseeing the administration of our legacy cases and securing a vital income stream for the University. Furthermore, you will relish the challenge of presenting innovative planned giving initiatives to distinct audience groups, showcasing planned giving as an option to our entire alumni community.You'll work closely with departmental communications colleagues to both inspire people to leave a gift in their will and consider giving in a way that is most appropriate to them. You'll also possess first class communication skills to influence and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders of all levels.You will have experience in managing expenditure budgets, developing business and marketing plans, and will be comfortable prioritising and making decisions quickly to ensure you can keep to tight deadlines with changing priorities.You'll also need to apply your knowledge of legal aspects related to charity and fundraising law, legacy fundraising, Direct Marketing including GDPR, Gift Aid requirements and sector best practice.For further information regarding the skills required for this role please see the personal specification section of the attached job description.About the Department 1It's an exciting time to be joining the Development and Alumni Engagement department (DAE) at the University of Warwick.
