- Directs Security Officers to investigate & respond to security incidents or concerns according to Faith Mission/Lutheran Social Services policies and procedures. This includes any incidents or injuries that occur during "off-shift" hours.
- Directly supervises a Faith Mission Security Staff on all shifts (24/7 operation).
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Agency's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems on a timely basis.
- Performs perimeter checks of Faith Mission shelters and area businesses according to the Good Neighbor agreement to monitor security and safety of physical properties and to guard against loitering.
- Works with law enforcement and other local security teams to ensure ultimate safety and security of facilities and the neighborhood.
- Procures trespass agreements and attends legal hearings for trespassed individuals.
- Performs internal inspections of Faith Mission facilities to ensure the security of the building and to check for any security concerns.
- Monitors suspicious behavior and/or criminal activity & communicates.
- Communicates any violations of Shelter practices to Shelter Manager, Engagement Staff, FM Director, or Human Resources as appropriate.
- Partners with Engagement Staff to de-escalate any incidents and/or threats of violence.
- Tracks all occurrences, accidents, or other unusual activity in Security Log and creates shift report of all incidents occurring on shift. Proactively communicates any issues or concerns to on-coming shift Security Officer.
- Develops the security schedule, special projects, and reports, etc.
- Assists Volunteers with unloading and securing donations.
- Assists with training and mentoring of security officers.
- Maintains professional demeanor at all times with residents, donors, volunteers, and acts as a role model for other staff. Modeling appropriate behavior at all times.
- Conducts OC (Oleoresin Capsicum) Training for security staff.
- Attend neighborhood and Downtown security meetings and internal safety meetings monthly and/or as needed.
- Facilitate and attend security department meetings.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Security certificate preferred.
- Previous experience in security or safety role required.
- Supervisory experience required.
- Valid Ohio driver's license and ability to meet LSS insurance standards required.
