- Assist the SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and classroom teachers in planning and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
- Support students in accessing the curriculum, adapting teaching materials and activities as necessary to accommodate their learning needs.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued, respected, and supported.
- Help students develop essential life skills, social skills, and independence, both inside and outside the classroom.
- Collaborate effectively with teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure the holistic development and well-being of students with special needs.
- Monitor student progress and behaviour, providing feedback to the SENCo and other relevant stakeholders as needed.
- Relevant qualifications such as a Level 3 Teaching Assistant Certificate or equivalent are preferred but not essential.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with students with special needs.
- Flexibility and adaptability, with the ability to respond effectively to the changing needs of students and the school environment.
