Tidewater Staffing is currently seeking Diesel Mechanic/Technicians. You will be responsible for repairing various vehicles and transmissions.Job Description: Under the supervision of the wrecker division Operations Manager, the Diesel Technician/Mechanic will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing heavy duty diesel vehicles or other equipment. This highly motivated, self-sufficient mechanic is expected to be able to work primarily unsupervised.​​​​Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and/or repair all mechanical, electrical, and electronic components on a wide variety of commercial vehicles and equipment within the time limits as outlined in standard labor guidelines.
  • Must demonstrate a thorough working knowledge of preventative maintenance programs.
  • Perform preventative maintenance per PM checklists.
  • Ability to recognize and define unsafe conditions on vehicles and potential breakdown conditions.
  • Identify, prioritize, and perform needed repairs both scheduled and unscheduled.
  • Ensure all shop equipment is maintained and inspected according to regulations.
  • Assist with scheduling vehicle downtime.
  • Maintain shop cleanliness and safety according to company and OSHA regulations.
  • State Inspector License is a PLUS but not required.
  • CDL is preferred but not required.
  • Must have some personal tools to perform the work.
  • Salary based upon knowledge and experience in repairing light to heavy duty diesel engines ranging from pickups to RVs.
Qualifications:
  • Must have at least 3 years experience as a medium/heavy duty truck or school bus mechanic.
  • Previous experience as a mechanic
  • Knowledge of shop equipment
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • Deadline and detail-oriented
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
