The RoleThe Senior Software Engineer is responsible for software engineering features and functionality of our Xfuze integration and Analytic Platforms, including involvement in the roadmap and prioritisation of new requirements.They will work closely with the client business teams, the Xfuze project team, the stakeholders and their peers in the engineering team, ensuring all requirements and views are represented in delivering the final product. This includes all elements of the platform, including the integrations, data flows, dashboards, user interface, back office tooling and third-party plug-ins.You will be working with the very latest technologies from our partners at Amazon, Google, etc. and will be required to have prior experience in developing cutting edge, big data applications.This role is an opportunity to join an established UK-based Software as a Service organisation who believe in using the latest leading-edge technology to drive business growth.Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to more junior engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable and efficient integrations and complex workflows/pipelines.
  • Work with clients and third parties to analyse requirements.
  • Create high and low-level designs to be used by the squad.
  • Work with the Product Owner to prioritise and orchestrate work between engineers, including setting non-functional requirements.
  • Work as part of a cross-functional squad to deliver new features using agile methodologies.
  • Maintain high technical standards and create well-tested and documented code.
  • Mentor and improve the technical skills of other team members through peer reviews.
  • Help the company continuously improve by contributing to the wider engineering community, as well as your squad.
Your Knowledge & Experience
  • 5+ years experience in Software Engineering.
  • Strong proficiency in Go.
  • Experience with MongoDB and other data stores.
  • Designed and built event-based and microservice architectures.
  • Ability to produce high-level and low-level designs/solutions.
  • Cloud platforms, especially GCP services such as GCS, GKE, and Pub/Sub.
  • Competent with containerization and IaC tools (Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform).
  • Have built CI/CD pipelines. Familiarity with GitOps (ArgoCD) is a bonus.
  • Experience using observability tooling (Grafana, Prometheus, etc).
  • Ideally built workflow engines (e.g. AWS step functions, Temporal) and integrations with third parties (FTP, SQL, APIs, etc).
  • Worked within an agile environment (Scrum, Kanban, etc).
  • Previous experience in the retail domain is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work directly with customers to drive requirements.
