As a Tax Specialist, you will lead and mentor junior tax accountants while managing various BIR correspondences and submissions, including Tax Treaty Relief Applications and BIR rulings. Your expertise will be crucial in evaluating the tax position of our client's organization and its subsidiaries, minimizing controversies with tax authorities, and ensuring statutory compliance with BIR, PEZA, LGUs, and other institutions.Take on a position where every calculation counts, and every challenge is an opportunity to shine!Scope & Responsibilities:
- Mentor and supervise junior tax accountants, providing guidance and support in their tasks and professional development.
- Handle all other BIR correspondences and submissions, including but not limited to Tax Treaty Relief Application, BIR rulings, Application for Computerized Accounting System, etc., ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations.
- Provide expert opinions on the tax implications of various business transactions, offering insights to stakeholders to optimize tax strategies and minimize liabilities.
- Assist in contesting assessments involving national, local, and real property taxes, comprising the preparation of position papers, protest letters, follow-ups, and discussions with revenue officers, advocating for the company's interests while maintaining compliance.
- Evaluate the tax position of the company/subsidiaries to enhance current tax practices and procedures, identifying and managing tax liabilities or exposures to minimize controversies with tax authorities effectively.
- Offer advice and assistance with the registration and reporting requirements of government agencies related to tax and/or investment incentives granted under various investment laws and regulations. This includes support with agencies such as the Securities and Exchange Commission, Department of Finance, Board of Investments, Philippine Economic Zone Authority, Clark Development Corporation, and Local Governments, among others.
- Prepare, file, and monitor all statutory compliance with BIR, PEZA, LGUs, and other related institutions, ensuring timely and accurate submissions to avoid penalties or non-compliance issues.
- Perform tax computation, create reports for BIR audit, and handle regulatory permits and licenses, ensuring adherence to legal requirements and facilitating smooth operations.
- Engage in other ad hoc activities as the need arises, demonstrating flexibility and readiness to support the tax department and broader organizational goals.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- CPA certification required.
- 4-6 years of taxation experience.
- Basic knowledge in accounting.
- Experience with tax audits, due process, audit practices.
- Preference is given to candidates with local Philippine tax experience.
- Clear and effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for preparing reports, communicating with the management, and engaging with tax authorities.
