Exciting Opportunity: Maths Specialist Teaching AssistantAre you a passionate individual with a strong background in mathematics? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Maths Specialist Teaching Assistant at an Ofsted good secondary school in Audenshaw.Role Overview:As a Maths Specialist Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the mathematics department and assisting students in their understanding and application of mathematical concepts. Your responsibilities will include:Maths Support: Providing tailored support to students struggling with mathematical concepts, both in one-on-one sessions and in small groups. Your assistance will help students build their confidence and improve their understanding of key mathematical principles.Resource Development: Assisting in the creation and adaptation of teaching resources and materials to cater to the diverse learning needs of students. You will work closely with teachers to ensure that resources are engaging, accessible, and aligned with the curriculum.Classroom Assistance: Supporting teachers during maths lessons by providing additional assistance to students, explaining concepts, and helping them work through problems. Your presence in the classroom will contribute to a supportive and inclusive learning environment.Assessment and Feedback: Assisting in the assessment of students' mathematical abilities through observation, marking, and feedback. You will help teachers track student progress and identify areas for further development.Behaviour Management: Implementing effective behaviour management strategies to ensure a positive and productive learning environment in maths lessons. Your supportive approach will help students stay focused and engaged in their learning.Data Analysis: Assisting with the analysis of student data to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement. Your insights will support teachers in developing targeted interventions and strategies to support student learning.Requirements:
  • A strong background in mathematics, with a degree or equivalent qualification in maths or a related subject.
  • Previous experience working with young people in an educational setting is desirable but not essential.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, teachers, and colleagues.
  • A passion for education and a commitment to supporting students of all abilities to achieve their full potential in mathematics.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience, with the ability to adapt your approach to meet the individual needs of students.
