As an R&D Analogue Engineer, you will develop next generation vision ASICs, leveraging industry-leading Sony vision sensor process technologies.Have you ever wondered if hardware design could be done better by closely collaborating with software and system engineers?   • Design innovative vision sensors at the transistor level as well as higher abstraction levels
  • Improve the efficiency of our design flow through the implementation of best practices and new tools
  • Take ownership and follow your innovations from idea to product prototype
  • Write code to model and simulate behaviour of sensor circuit prototypes for dataset generation
  • Work on areas where sensors and algorithms meet with the support of our computer vision, AI and hardware experts
  • Coordinate developments within a multi-cultural work environment that spans engineering sites from Japan, Europe, and North America across the Sony Group organization
You should have:
  • MSc or higher in Electrical Engineering, Physics, … or surprise us with a background that we have not thought of yet!
  • Experience in designing analogue circuits, such as amplifiers, comparators, switch caps, etc.
  • Experience with common IC design EDA tools (Cadence, Mentor, etc.)
  • Interest in machine learning
  • Experience with Python programming or another language
  • Curiosity to actively learn and ask many questions
  • Confident communication skills and fluency in English
You can set yourself apart if you have:
  • Experience with modelling and simulation in Python, MATLAB, or similar
  • Basic proficiency with an ML library, e.g. Pytorch/Pytorch lightning, TensorFlow/Keras
  • Experience with relevant EDA scripting languages, such as OCEAN or SKILL
  • A track record of innovation through publications and/or patents
  • Experience in an R&D or startup environment
  • Experience with mixed signal circuits, such as ADCs and DACs
  • Basic knowledge of image sensor readout and pixel basics
  • Basic knowledge of computer vision concepts
The position is within the Sony Advanced Visual Sensing (AVS) group which is an R&D center of Sony Semiconductor Solutions based in Zurich, Switzerland and a former spin-off of the University of Zurich and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich). We develop novel computer vision algorithms, vision sensors and sensing systems based on our world-leading sensing expertise, including event-based cameras, CMOS cameras, and more.
