- Develop early-career clinical researchers while fostering collaboration between the university and hospital departments.

- Participate in research independently and as a member of a research team
- Apply for independent funding for national or international grants, including at least one grant application per annum.
- Produce conference and seminar papers and publications including publications in peer reviewed journals, including publishing at least one first author peer reviewed paper per annum.
- Attract and supervise/mentor research higher degree students, encouraging and facilitating student engagement in both discipline-specific and broader professional networks
- PhD (or near completion) or equivalent professional qualification
- Evidence of significant contribution to independent and team based research in a field of medicine.
- Significant research profile at a national level
- Demonstrated success in obtaining research funding,
