About the RoleThe Fellowship fosters collaboration between the University of Melbourne and St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne, supporting early/midcareer clinical researchers who have completed or nearly completed their PhD. The fellowship is also suitable for clinicians returning from an overseas postdoctoral or clinical position The three-year fellowship will facilitate a transition to independent research funding. The Senior Fellow will provide academic leadership in Medicine, engage in innovative research, and supervise higher degree by research students, contributing to the advancement of medical fields through engagement with clinical partners.Your responsibilities will include:
  • Participate in research independently and as a member of a research team
  • Apply for independent funding for national or international grants, including at least one grant application per annum.
  • Produce conference and seminar papers and publications including publications in peer reviewed journals, including publishing at least one first author peer reviewed paper per annum.
  • Attract and supervise/mentor research higher degree students, encouraging and facilitating student engagement in both discipline-specific and broader professional networks
Who We Are Looking ForYou will excel in this role with your effective supervision skills and high-level written and oral communication abilities, demonstrated across academic and applied environments. Your strong interpersonal and communication skills enable you to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, fostering successful collaboration both internally and externally.You will also have:
  • PhD (or near completion) or equivalent professional qualification
  • Evidence of significant contribution to independent and team based research in a field of medicine.
  • Significant research profile at a national level
  • Demonstrated success in obtaining research funding,
