Integrated Diabetes Service
Croydon, London
**1 year long placement**
Full time hours, mon-friJOB SUMMARY
1. To provide a high quality specialist Clinical Psychology service within the Integrated Diabetes
Community Service for adults in Croydon. This community service is a new addition to the
already established diabetes service in Croydon. Patients will be seen in the community although
there will be minimal in-reach to Croydon University Hospital. To do this in close liaison with the
Clinical Lead for Integrated Diabetes Community Service and Community Service MDT.
2. To supervise and support other psychologists, including recently qualified, trainee, and assistant
psychologists.
3. To provide training, consultation and support to MDT colleagues in the Integrated Diabetes
Community Service
4. To work with healthcare professionals caring for diabetes patients both within Croydon University
Hospital and liaising with community services such as GPs, Mental Health Services, voluntary
sector services and other disciplines and agencies as required
5. To work autonomously within HCPC and BPS professional guidelines and exercise responsibility
for psychological practise within a current caseload.
6. To utilise research skills for audit, policy, service development and clinical research.
7. To work with key professionals within the Integrated Diabetes Community Service including
medical, nursing staff & AHP colleagues to ensure holistic psychologically informed care is
embedded in policy.
8. To attend and contribute to key meetings and policy forums
9. To travel around the Borough of Croydon providing a community service.
10. Lead responsibility for making decisions about mental health including referring on to other
services (i.e. SLAM)REQUIREMENTS:Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS, including specifically models of
psychopathology, clinical health psychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychologyDoctoral level knowledge of research design and methodology, including complex multivariate data analysis as practised within the field of clinical psychology.
An understanding of the specific needs and difficulties of people with diabetes.
