This team is responsible for all the carrier certifications of Zebra devices across the globe. We deliver NA carrier features (AT&T, VZW, T-Mobile) along with handling all the regulatory certifications (PTCRB/GCF). In addition, we work on the latest cellular technologies right from 2G-3G-4G to 5G, and proudly live by Zebra values – Accountability, Teamwork, Innovation, Agility and Integrity. We focus on delivering cutting edge features and "wow" experience for our customers and end-users.Manage software engineering resources including skill & talent development as well as managing customer engagements. Develops overall system architecture and technical practices. Ensures the integrity of the architecture/design and technical aptitude of the team. Determines and develops approach to customer solutions in alignment with the integration of Zebra technologies / solutions.As a seasoned Senior Manager, you will be working in delivering cellular features across different carriers around the globe for Zebra’s enterprise division. You will be working on next level chipset from Qualcomm to fulfill the needs of customers and carrier requirements.
Responsibilities:
  • Directs and controls the activities of the team matched to market needs for software projects, including being responsible for the skill set at a macro level.
  • Develops and establishes operational policies within area managed, delegates assignments, and manages performance of the development engineers.
  • Solid understanding of carrier specifications, with the ability to define requirements and drive design and development based on these.
  • Knowledge of North American carrier features and developments.
  • Ability to actively participate in carrier meetings, understand their roadmaps, and identify product/feature requirements for Zebra.
  • Experience in drafting and submitting carrier waivers and securing approvals.
  • Ability to comprehend the latest 3GPP specifications and trends, and apply this understanding to define the WWAN Zebra product roadmap.
  • Experience in managing third-party carrier lab certifications.
  • Ability to review reports from third-party carrier labs and ensure adequate pre-cert coverage based on device capabilities.
  • Comfortable visiting third-party certification labs to understand and address issues, providing fixes or workarounds as needed.
  • Experience collaborating with RF and Regulatory teams to define bands, CA, and ENDC combinations for future products.
  • Ability to devise chipset strategies for upcoming products.
  • Strong customer orientation, with the ability to understand customer needs and translate them into Zebra product requirements.
  • Engineering management of software resources available to Zebra EMC WAN projects.
  • Interface with key Zebra technology areas where custom application and integration software is required for the technology success.
  • Resource management and assignment against customer-based software project needs.
  • Regularly interfaces with senior leadership, key internal/external organizations.
  • Recognized leader who exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results
  • Extensive expertise in software engineering needs for Zebra products & technologies and their implementation & integration with customer systems
  • Develops and implements programs/solutions to improve processes, reduce costs and cycle time, and improve customer service
Qualifications:Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent software engineering discipline with 12+ years of experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge and hands-on experience with WAN SW stack, including Modem, Telephony, and RIL.
  • Proficient with QC RIL, HAL, and Android upgrades.
  • Prior experience with debugging tools such as QXDM, QCAT, and QRCT.
  • Well-versed in eSIM, private 5G, and GSM/3G/LTE/5G technologies.
  • Experience collaborating with North American carriers such as AT&T, Verizon Wireless, and T-Mobile.
  • Proven experience in working closely with Qualcomm to drive the technical roadmap.
  • Familiarity with regulatory certifications such as PTCRB/GCF/FCC.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3GPP Wireless knowledge in 4G/5G
  • Expertise in JAVA and Android
  • Proficiency with debugging in embedded software systems. Familiarity with JTAG
  • Exposure to one or more telecom networks and technologies like GSM, 3G, LTE, IMS,5G RAN architecture
  • Worked on debugging private 5G issues
  • Demonstrated understanding of the carrier specs and have experience to implement the carrier features
  • Debug experience of Field test issues
