About the role:We are seeking to recruit a G10 Children’s commissioner to work within the Children and Young People’s Health and Wellbeing Service.Rated GOOD by Ofsted, Wakefield’s Children’s and Young People’s Service are ambitious to continue the journey to deliver excellent outcomes for children. As such, we want creative and talented people to join our team.The role requires working closely with colleagues in health services, education and social care as well as external providers, partners and service users in order to commission, and contract manage delivery of a range of services which meet the needs of children, young people and their families.The post holder will be instrumental in:
  • Commissioning high quality, compliant and value for money services.
  • Improving outcomes for service users and communities across Wakefield.
  • Representing Children’s Commissioning at strategic meetings
  • Providing support and challenge effectively at a strategic level.
Key tasks include:
  • Contract performance management,
  • Service audit,
  • Need assessments,
  • Options appraisal,
  • Drafting service specifications,
  • Compiling tender documentation,
  • Evaluation and moderation of tenders
  • Market development,
  • Reviewing / Evaluating services and de-commissioning.
