Job Description:The opportunity is to join the Legal Entity Control (LEC) team based in London as part of Global Finance and Business Management. The LEC team are based in London and Mumbai and are primarily responsible for the oversight of legal entities in the UK and ensuring that a strong control environment exists as it relates to all businesses, products and operational areas that impact the UK financial statements.This role has responsibility for key Legal Entity regulatory deliverables and the strategic restructure or liquidation of UK controlled entities.As UK Legal Entity Controller - Associate in Legal Entity Control team you will be responsible for planning, obtaining approval and executing Legal Entity Closures and/or restructures. You will be working with stakeholders including, but not limited to: - legal, tax, capital management and regulatory policy. The role has also been created to support wider LEC responsibilities, such as the production, co-ordination, and management of statutory financial statements for UK regulated entities. The work is challenging with tight deadlines requiring both strong time management, as well attention to detail.   • Plans, obtains approval and executes Legal Entity restructures or closures.
  • Coordinates of ad-hoc requests such as dividends, capital injections and other corporate actions, and providing tracking of these actions to management.
  • Supports various projects and initiatives which impact legal entities including product, regulatory, compliance and other business driven initiatives or strategies including legal entity simplification.
  • Builds and manages relationships with key stakeholders including Product Control, Business Management, Operations, Compliance, Corporate and CIB Treasury, and Regulatory Teams.
  • Updates and reviews of UK LEC owned sections of Legal Entity ICARA.
  • Prepares of ICAAP stress testing and other reporting.
  • Produces key disclosures contained within the UK statutory financial statements under local GAAP, working closely with the Lines of Business and external audit.
  • Runs standalone US regulatory reporting to the Federal Reserve Bank
  • Supports cross entity disclosures & audit tasks for the wider LEC team during the year where required.
Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
  • Qualified accountant (i.e. CA, ACCA, CPA, CIMA etc.) with relevant experience.
  • Solid understanding of investment and retail bank financial accounting and products.
  • Ability to work under time pressure, whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy and quality.
  • Excellent communication and presentational skills and a track record in developing good working relationships.
  • Strong analytical ability, being able to discuss legal entity and business results and issues with senior management and various stakeholders across the Firm.
  • A desire to learn and develop an understanding of challenging accounting concepts and new products.
  • Attention to detail and a control focused mind-set.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills
  • Previous experience of accounts preparation under IFRS preferred.
  • Experience of the Firm's ledger and consolidation platform (SAP, CDGL and BPC)
  • Advanced Excel skills and ideally understanding of process enhancement tools such as Alteryx & Tableau
