Offer DescriptionThe institute is looking for an excellent and highly motivated candidate for PhD in the field of Normal and pathological physiologyThe thesis is focused on:Depression is the most common mental disorder in the world. Commonly used antidepressants exert their effect only after several weeks of continuous treatment. In addition, their serious side effects in one-third of patients call for urgent action. With the rapid increase of depressive patients worldwide, seeking novel molecular targets and therapeutic strategies is important for antidepressant therapy. Compounds capable of inducing rapid structural and functional rearrangement of neuronal networks are particularly attractive. Several of these psychoplastogens are naturally occurring antioxidants, such as 7,8-dihydroxyflavone (7,8-DHF) and Naringin. We will explore the effects of 7,8-DHF and Naringin, as well as their combination, on the development of depressive-like symptoms in animal model of depression.Supervisor: RNDr. Stanislava Vranková, PhD.RequirementsResearch Field Medical sciences » Health sciences Education Level Master Degree or equivalentSkills/QualificationsTheoretical background in Normal and pathological physiologyExperience in basic laboratory techniques, particularly with biochemical, physiological, and molecular analyses and in vitro techniquesLanguages ENGLISH Level ExcellentAdditional InformationWork Location(s)Number of offers available 1 Company/Institute Center of Experimental Medicine, Slovak Academy of Sciences Country Slovakia City Bratislava Postal Code 81371 Street Sienkiewiczova 1 GeofieldWhere to apply WebsiteContact CityBratislava WebsiteStreetDubravska cesta 9 Postal Code84104 E-Mailmiroslava.kvandova@savba.sk Phone0232296064STATUS: EXPIRED
