In this role, you will be responsible for providing Manufacturing Engineering support to the machining area of the plant for both cast iron and steel. Typical duties include process design, tooling design, Capital project design and implementation, work instruction documentation, Computer Numerical Control (CNC) development programming, production support and support for maintenance.This position reports toManufacturing Engineering ManagerYour responsibilities
Plan and implement engineering projects including equipment, tooling and process improvements
Generate project approval justification and create formal Capital Asset Project Requests (CAPR)
Complete Capital Project Management including procurement, installation, programming, training, documentation and support to production
Provide reports on the status of project milestones and adjusts schedules accordingly
Control expenditures within limitations of project budget
Identify project staffing, assign and oversee specific phases or aspects such as technical studies, design, preparation of specifications and technical plans and product testing
Review project design for compliance with engineering principles, safety requirements, company standards and other related specifications
Understand tool materials, design criteria, GD&T and the use of these principles in tooling, fixturing, gaging and safety devices
Analyze, plan and design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency
Utilize design software to conceptualize manufacturing tooling
Determine equipment specifications, solicit quotes and arrange for purchase of equipment. Manage production tooling supplies and related costs
Confer with management, engineering and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, needs and any other considerations to facilitate and improve production processes
Your background
Bachelor's degree in engineering with minimum 2 years of experience; OR Associate's degree with minimum 5 years of experience; OR 10 years relevant equivalent experience
Extensive knowledge of CNC machine tools: operating, programming, controls and capabilities
Extensive knowledge and experience in the application of cutting tools, and the design and application of work holding and fixturing methods
Manufacturing process review/development
Strong understanding of lean process improvements
Ability to collect and research data and use intuition and experience to complement data
Gather and analyze information skillfully and develop solutions
Work with integrity and uphold organizational values
Develop strategies to achieve organizational goals
Meet challenges with resourcefulness, original thinking and creativity
Experienced with hydraulics, pneumatics, PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers) and computer controls
Experienced with CAD Software, SolidWorks CAM and APT experience is a plus
Domestic travel may be required but limited
