- Two years of experience working with young children birth to age five
- Professionals with a technical certificate of credit (TCC), a technical college diploma (TCD), or an associate's degree in early childhood education or child development
- Experience working in an inclusive classroom setting supporting diverse learners and/or supporting students with ASD
- High school diploma or equivalent
- A professional credential in the early care and education field (e.g. child development associate or PSC-certified paraprofessional) or an associate's degree in an unrelated field
- First Aid
- CPR
- Valid/Current satisfactory Comprehensive Records Check Determination (must be completed in accordance with DECAL requirements)
- Knowledge of developmentally appropriate classroom procedures for young children
- Exceptional interpersonal, problem solving, and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Motivated to support the lead teacher and other staff members through active participation in classroom instruction/management and educational planning
- Implements a curriculum focused on social interaction and play.
- Implements accommodations that allow all children to participate in all classroom activities and build rapport with families by communicating openly, warmly, and effectively.
- Utilizes developmentally appropriate classroom management procedures when transporting or working with students.
- Collaborates effectively with other preschool staff in efforts to refine the classroom curriculum and develop adaptations for individual students.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members in an organized and flexible manner, and provides information to the educational support teams regarding student progress and learning.
- Assists in the documentation and maintains updated student information in the preschool data management system to record assessments, progress reports, and services provided to meet student objectives.
