Job descriptionTeacher of EnglishProspero Teaching are working closely with a mixed secondary school located in Portsmouth, Hampshire. The school is easily accessible from out of the area.The school have a fantastic opportunity for a passionate and enthusiastic Teacher of English to join a well-established and supportive department where leaders and staff have high ambitions for pupils. Applications from both experienced and Early Career Teachers are encouraged and a comprehensive ECT support package would be available, if appropriate.The school has invested significantly in training and support for staff and offers excellent facilities and a wide range of extra-curricular activities. There is a regular culture of reading established throughout the school, with reading built into the curriculum outside of English lessons twice a day.The school pride themselves on their ethos and culture of kindness and commitment, which promotes positive relationships and personal responsibility. In their most recent Ofsted report (2023) inspectors observed that “Pupils are well supported and appreciate how hard staff work to keep them safe.   • Location – Portsmouth, Hampshire
  • Position – Teacher of English
  • Start date – ASAP start date
  • Contract duration – until the end of July 2024. Temp-to-perm contracts available
  • Full time/part time – Full time, but flexible to offer part-time
  • Minimum rate of pay – Paid to scale
  • Hours – 8:30 am – 3pm, plus parents’ evenings and department meetings
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • QTS or equivalent
  • Minimum 1-year English teaching experience in the UK
  • Up-to-date safeguarding training issued in the last year
TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING, YOU MUST:
  • Hold Right to Work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service, or be willing to process a new application
  • Provide two professional child related references that cover the last 2 years
