- Using the CEO’s internal and external thought leadership strategy as direction, coordinate speaking engagements for CEO, including liaising with external parties and OCEO.
- Contribute to development of annual SMT speaking engagement strategy.
- Identify strategically important external top-tier industry events and secure speaking engagements for senior executives, including SMT, in key markets ahead of every fiscal year to help deliver on Fund’s broader business objectives.
- Act as point of contact for SMT as they receive inbound opportunities.
- Manage external engagements and support the partnerships work for the OCSO.
- Provide SMT-level support to the CSO when it comes to external speaking program (incl. proactive work on New York & London Climate Action Week and COP), and reactive external event invitations assessments.
- Contribute to and deliver on the annual sustainability communications strategy (incl. developing a formal engagement framework alongside a clear overview of OCSO roles and responsibilities (i.e. key priority engagements, external event assessment scorecard, define and align subject-matter expertise and geographic considerations with appropriate speaking engagements and partnership opportunities.
- Manage existing relationships (WBCSD, WEF, Milken), as well as bring forward new and assess incoming partnership invitations, jointly with the Stakeholder Affairs group.
- Keep the external opportunities tracker updated.
- Create a weekly comms vehicle to OCSO (email update of recommendations)
- Manage the Fund’s Events and Engagements Protocol
- Ensure the Protocol remains updated in response to any changes.
- Continuously remind colleagues of these external engagement principles to increase usage of the DealCloud tracking tool.
- Provide on-demand and quarterly reports on external speaking engagements (via DealCloud)
- Manage PAC-led key strategic relationships for the Fund.
- Develop, maintain and deliver on annual relationship strategies for key partnerships for the World Economic Forum and Milken Institute
- Ensure that partnerships value is maximized to advance the objectives of the Insights Institute and Fund as a whole.
- Continuously search for additional external partnership opportunities to advance CPP Investments profile, as well as profile of the CEO, SMT and the CSO.
- Maintain strong working relationship with the most prominent media event platforms (Bloomberg, Fortune FT, etc.) to ensure our executives have access to speaking roles at top tier industry events.
- In addition to the SMT and CSO, provide external engagements support to GLT-MDs Head of Global Partnerships and Head of Sustainable Energies Group.
- College or university degree required in relevant field (e.g., Business, Finance, Sustainability, Economics)
- Advanced Microsoft Excel Skills, PowerPoint, Word
- Requisite experience in a fast-paced, complex, and high visibility organization
- Experience in a communications agency, consulting, or financial services environment
- Commands the ability to distill complex information into compelling, concise content and produce targeted materials for a variety of audiences
