OCU is a leading engineering service provider in the fast-growing utilities space, covering power, telco, water and more. Head quartered in Stockport, our operations span the entire UK, where our circa 2,000 team services the largest utility providers in the market.We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Finance Manager to come and join us located at the newly refurbished head office in Stockport, the Finance Manager will be responsible for the end-to-end financial reporting of the Northavon group of companies, with key duties including:Key responsibilities
  • Preparation of management accounts including journal postings, group reporting pack and Board report
  • Provide insightful analysis and commentary of performance and variances to expectations
  • Ability to identify and implement improvements to enhance accuracy in data
  • Business partnering the Commercial and Operational leads to provide accurate and timely financial information to drive business decisions
  • Develop and maintain strong financial controls and reconciliations
  • Ensure compliance of the business with the Group’s established financial reporting policies and processes
  • Lead the annual external audit process for the Northavon group of companies
  • Preparation of weekly cash forecasting
  • Link with transactional finance team to maximise working capital cycle
  • Take a key role in transitioning the business from Sage 200 to Microsoft Dynamics, with implementation expected to take place in the next 9 months
  • Project / adhoc work as required e.g. assistance in due diligence and acquisition accounting and integration
Skills, qualifications and experience
  • A qualified accounting professional (ACCA/CIMA/ACA) with a ‘can do’ attitude
  • Experience in delivering high-quality management accounts, from start to finish
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of financial systems and analytical tools
  • Proficient in Excel
  • A keen eye for detail balanced with an ability to step back and see the bigger picture
  • A proven ability to deliver under pressure
  • Great communication skills - this person will interact across all levels of the business, including senior operational and commercial leaders
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics highly desirable
